“Mr. Kim Goes to the Cinema” the first feature-length documentary directed by former Busan International Film Festival chairman Kim Dong-ho, opens exclusively at Megabox on the 19th.

The film portrays Kim, now retired from public service, capturing the present state of theaters and cinema through the eyes of a lifelong film advocate.

At the age of 88, Kim personally met more than 100 filmmakers from Korea and abroad, listening to their reflections on the current landscape of cinema and strategies for survival.

Renowned directors including Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho, and Hirokazu Kore-eda took part in the project.

Through heartfelt responses such as “A movie theater is a spaceship traveling to another galaxy”, the documentary illuminates the enduring meaning of the cinematic experience.
