Wicked: For Good also opened strong, drawing over 100,000 moviegoers on its first day, signaling an intense box-office race.

Coming next are Zootopia 2 on November 26 and Avatar: The Fire and Ash on December 17, positioning major blockbusters in theaters at one- to two-week intervals.

Industry insiders predict that with all four films in play by December, the year-end box office will see its strongest surge of the season.
