Pianist Yunchan Lim has swept three categories at the 20th BBC Music Magazine Awards with his album Chopin: Études, including the prestigious Recording of the Year.

The awards he received were Recording of the Year, Instrumental Award, and Newcomer Award—marking the first time in the award’s history that a single album has won in all three categories.

Lim also became the first Newcomer Award recipient to win Recording of the Year simultaneously.

Previously, Chopin: Études won the Piano Award at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards, making Lim the first Korean pianist to earn the honor.

The BBC Music Magazine Awards, founded in 2006, are one of the UK’s most respected classical music award ceremonies.
