Last year's Korean Wave (Hallyu) was mainly led by K-pop and K-food.

According to the 2024 Global Hallyu Trend Analysis Report by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the regions with the most Hallyu-related news coverage were Asia (50.6%), Europe (27.5%), and North America (13.6%).
K-pop dominated media coverage in Asia, Latin America, and Europe, while K-food had the highest share in North America. In Asia, BTS and BLACKPINK were the main focus, whereas Latin America highlighted idol visits and world tours, and Europe covered chart achievements. In particular, North America showed high popularity for Buldak Ramen, kimchi, and soju.
On social media, "mukbang" has become a globally recognized term.
The MCST stated that this report serves as significant data for analyzing the global influence of Hallyu.
